I am currently reading this book Laws of UX. I want to document all I would learn from that book. I would be a series and I would be describing each law in an article extensively. So watch out for more articles on the other Laws of UX

Before you start reading this article, you need to understand what UX is. I would advise you to pause reading this article and check out my previous article on UI and UXπŸ˜‰πŸ€—. After reading it, I assure you that you would understand what UX is.

HeyπŸ‘‹!!! Are you back already??

As product designers, our primary duty is to make sure that users can solve their problems in a fast and easy way. If users don't get a good experience while using your digital product, they would most likely never use it again. For you to avoid the above, you need to consider the Laws of Ux while designing.

1.Jakob's Law - This states that " Users spend more time on other sites and they prefer your site to work the same way as all other sites they already know".

While being unique with your designs and solutions, remember that users are familiar with specific mental models and modifying what users are familiar with would make them take a long time to accomplish their objectives/goals as users have to learn how to use your different interface. Let your users focus on achieving their goals rather than learning about your new pattern.

Notice how both product cards have similar patterns- Detailed description of the product, the price, the discount, purchase option and a save for later option

In conclusion, when you change a familiar pattern, ensure that you carry out a test with users to make sure that your change doesn't hinder the user from achieving their goals

Glossary: Mental model - A mental model is an explanation of someone's thought process about how something works in the real world.
